The Aseneskak Casino, located just outside of The Pas in Manitoba, may soon be closing. If that occurs, the shuttering of the casino will represent the second major employer in area to announce plans to close. Earlier, Tolko Industries announced its own plans to stop its operations in December, 2016. Tolko Industries is a forest products company employing 332 people in The Pas area in northern Manitoba.

About 150 employees potentially will be effected by the closure of the Aseneskak Casino. However, there is some talk that the closure may not be permanent. There is a proposal to reopen the casino closer to Winnipeg. If the casino does end up moving, employees at the existing location will be offered the chance to relocate, according to the CEO of Aseneskak Casino, Suzanne Barbeau Bracegirdle.
